


HPPŠ THE FIRST EXPERIENCES WITH BOTULINUM TOXIN TYPE A IN CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

The results of use of Botulinim-A toxin (Botox, Allergan) in 16 children (the mean age: 4,3 years) with cerebral palsy. The dose of 3-5 units/kg was injected. The mesuring of outcome during 4-11 months included clinical assessment based on opinion of physicians, parents, physical terapeuts, functional evaluating of gait (PRS), muscle tone grading (modified Aschworth scale) and measuring the range of motion. The results were statisticaly significant, lasting 3-7 months, included decreased spasticity, improvments of gait and facilitating physical therapy. The aplication was then repeated. The undiserable side efects or complications were not observed.
